The consequences of the EU Remain/Leave referendum are now making themselves apparent and the United Kingdom stands divided.

The EU Remain/Leave referendum allowed UK citizens to show their anger and voice their issues and concerns.

Through the referendum, We have switched the light on which shines strongly and brightly; which can be seen from America to Asia, from Russia to China.  All the financial markets have seen this light.  The EU has also seen this light.

Are We to destroy this beautiful light which We have just switched on for the whole world to see?

Or are We to KEEP THE LIGHT ON?

Great Britain always stood at the forefront in so many things; fighting when necessary for freedom and for liberty, structuring the future.

But now the consequences of the referendum have made themselves clear.

If We DO leave the EU then it is likely that there will be NO MORE UNITED KINGDOM.

If Scotland decides to become an independent country then there will be NO UNITED KINGDOM.   Northern Ireland may also follow and seek independence.  Gibraltar may decide to go under the Spanish flag.

No United Kingdom also means NO UNION JACK.  The flag that has flown for centuries; American War of Independence, World War I, World War II, Falklands, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Embassies around the world etc..

The flag that our athletes compete under; the flag that our previous generations fought under and our current generation stands under.

The Queen recently had her 90th birthday.  Will the United Kingdom and the Union Jack disappear under her reign?  Is that the late birthday present We want to give Her Majesty?

Are we also going to restrict our own freedoms?  The freedom of movement; to travel, live, study, work and trade where we want within the EU?

Are we going to pass this legacy on to the next generation and future generations?  How will we answer future generations when they read about the United Kingdom and the Union Jack and ask why they no longer exist.  When they ask why have my freedoms been restricted.

Great countries and their citizens always sought freedom for themselves and others; Abraham Lincoln sought to abolish slavery in America, the anti-apartheid movement sought freedom for black South Africans, Lech Walesa and Solidarity sought freedom from Communism and started the down fall of Communism in Eastern Europe.

Great Britain always stood in defence of FREEDOM.  But now we want to restrict our own freedoms and the freedoms of our children and their children and their children ...

Great Britain always had wisdom - 'Together We stand, divided We fall.'

Wars have been held at bay, dictators removed and peace has been kept because of various unions; NATO, Security Councils, UN and yes the EU.

After the second world war Winston Churchill said that we need an european union so to keep peace in Europe.

We should not listen to small people with destructive ideas - history is full of these people and it always leads to pain, sorrow and suffering.

Look how hate crime rose after the referendum.

The referendum highlighted various issues - immigration, NHS, housing, education and unemployment.

We need to be aware of the difference between migration and immigration.  Migration is from the EU, where EU citizens who have similar views, culture and traditions as the UK come here to work.  Not all work but the vast majority do and they pay large amounts into the 'kitty'.  There is also immigration from outside the EU where views, culture and traditions do vary.  This immigration is controlled by the government and NOT by the EU.

The problems with the NHS, housing and education all stem from the lack of investment from this government and previous governments.  The lack of hospitals, schools and affordable housing is all due to new hospitals, new schools and new houses not being built and yet the Bank of England after the referendum put aside 250 BILLION pounds to keep markets and the pound afloat.   So the issue is not one of money.

These problems are NOT due to the EU but to lack of investment by this government and previous governments.

There are still shortages of trained staff in hospitals and of trained teachers up and down the country.  So the argument that 'our jobs are being taken' is simply not true.   What it does mean is that if you are trained and educated in certain skills then jobs do exist.  Training and education is down to the government and NOT the EU.

Staying in the EU means that the UK CAN and WILL remain GREAT; will still stand in defence of freedoms and lead from the forefront and not be somewhere by itself.

The UK currently stands divided.

The EU Remain/Leave Referendum was an advisory referendum, advising Parliament and the Prime Minister how to proceed.

The result was roughly 52% Leave - 48% remain; a difference of around 1.2 million votes, so if only 600 thousand votes or so had gone the other way the result would be different.  Also the turnout was around 73% of the population that were allowed to vote meaning that no one knows how the other 27% (more than a quarter) of the population would have voted.  Scotland, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar and London voted to remain whilst Wales and most of England voted to leave.

We need to find some middle ground.

This middle ground is to remain in the EU and for our next government to heavily invest in the building of new hospitals, new schools, new affordable housing, new education and training programmes which are aimed at filling the gaps in areas where jobs exist; and not only in and around London and big cities but everywhere in the UK.

If we stay in the EU then our voices can and will be heard, but we need wise leaders; leaders who put people and freedom first and not money, corporations, banks and pharmaceutical companies or their own lust for power.  The UK has again the chance to lead and direct from the forefront in partnership with all the other countries within the EU and together re-align the EU and also shape the world as a better place.

To remain in the EU we need Parliament and the Prime Minister not to invoke EU Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty and for the new Prime Minister to let the EU Parliament know.

There is no shame in doing this, in fact this would be a GREAT ACT which GREAT BRITAIN would previously never shy from.

Together with the EU We would stand, divided We would not fall.

We have switched the light on for the whole world, so that again people can be put first.

Without the light there is only darkness and with darkness comes decay and demise.

KEEP THE LIGHT ON!

Under this banner we can stand UNITED.  Not only the United Kingdom, but also the EU and maybe even the world with all its current troubles and problems.

Peace and prosperity should be for all.

KEEP THE LIGHT ON!
